ZêzereArts runs an annual Summer Festival which is an invitation event for solo singers, choral singers and instrumentalists, culminating in a huge range of quality performances open to the public. Performances result from a series of masterclasses and summer courses for professional students and experienced amateurs. Thus, the Zêzerearts Festival offers career development experience for musicians and a programme of performances for the local public and visiting tourists.
Visitors are welcome to our festival where they can enjoy high quality music making, good food, sun-shine, swimming, boating, walking and the peaceful pleasures of rural central Portugal near the stunning river Zêzere and remarkable world heritage sites like the Convento de Cristo in Tomar, the Monateries of Batalha and Alcobaça, Almoural Castle and the village of Dornes.
The ZêzereArts Festival presents performances across this region of central Portugal through which the river Zêzere flows. Over the years the venues have grown to include Ferreira do Zêzere, the town in which the festival was originally founded, the village of Dornes, the Convento de Cristo, the City of Tomar, Batalha Monastery, Alcobaça Monastery and Almourol Castle in Vila Nova da Barquinha. These stunning venues in a beautiful part of the world create a great opportunity for a cultural holiday.
Choral singers can avail of the unique opportunity to sing in some of the most amazing buildings in the world, living, rehearsing and performing together in the Convento de Cristo in Tomar. The first festival took place in 2011 and we are now planning the seventh edition for July/Aug 2017. Solo singers can apply to be invited to sing in our opera productions, concerts and recitals. Advanced students are welcomed each year to our Strings Masterclasses and Chamber Choir, where they can study with top teachers and participate in chamber music, solo, choral and orchestral performances.
